Employees of the Month

Lidwina “Lidi” Rooney
Lidi is yet another Pleasant View Retirement employee who goes the extra mile. Her value comes by doing the small things with greatness. Lidi works in our kitchen where she lovingly prepares meals for our residents. Her smiling face and sweet disposition makes living at Pleasant View Retirement easier. Her talents, however, go beyond the kitchen. Lidi was invited by the residents to show her beautiful artwork at a Resident Tea.

What makes Lidi so special? It is how she approaches her work and the meaning she derives from it.

“Since I enjoy cooking and food service, I decided to make this a part of my life and went to work for Pleasant View Retirement in 2003. Here I can do what I enjoy doing – cooking, baking, service, and above all, I enjoy being surrounded by the many friendly residents. Working at Pleasant View Retirement is like being in a big family.”

Congratulations, Lidi, on your nomination as Employee of the Month. You make a difference to residents and staff alike!

Laura Moltisanti
Receptionist
For many visitors at Pleasant View, Laura is the first person you see when you arrive. Technically speaking, she is our bookkeeper, but Laura brings meaning to the “all other duties as assigned” category of her job description. From greeting guests and new residents when they move in, to serving in the dining room, or helping a 103 year old resident enlarge sheet music so that he may play his ukulele, no task is insignificant or beyond her responsibilities. It is people like Laura that allow Genesis to confidently say “We improve the lives we touch through the delivery of high quality health care and everyday compassion.” Thank you, Laura, for all that you do! You make a difference!

Ed Buxton
Driver
Do you remember the movie “Driving Miss Daisy?” Pleasant View Retirement has their own chauffeur. Just like the character in the movie, Ed demonstrates enormous patience and compassion with our residents. It is rare (haven’t heard one yet) to hear him decline a request for a ride or give assistance with groceries. He seems to know our residents well and understands their needs. When he isn’t driving, Ed busies himself with any task at hand. Raking the lawn, vacuuming, or running errands, Ed doesn’t wait for someone to ask him for help. He even takes residents to church on his day off. What a team player!

Linda Kearns
Housekeeper
Linda isn’t just a housekeeper; she is a valuable member of the Pleasant View team. Formerly a case manager, Linda’s skills of compassionate listening and supportive care have a home at Pleasant View. She wasted no time in getting to know residents and staff. In addition to her assigned duties, Linda finds the time to chair the Safety committee, care for residents’ plants when they go away on vacation, and even taught one resident with a speech impairment to use sign language. In addition to her general ability to improve residents’ well being, she is mentoring a local student with developmental disabilities so that she may have some work experience prior to graduating. Linda, we are fortunate to have you here.
